Has anyone tried squat/camping on Saddlebunch Keys?
YOu can ride the bike trail form Key West to there.
Old State Rd 4A/ 939A goes on for 5miles from Sugarloaf Key along the ocean side.
Seems pretty empty ....just perfect to hang and camp
If things go my way I want to take my bike down there to...
I was wondering if anybody had thought of going to live in the woods for a year or two. See if you can survive the old way just off of what you can and have learned extreme cold climates somewhere were nobody can find you if you don't want them to.
I am taking a few months off in a week to live out of my backpack and be with nature. I was thinking about the Sierras however Yosemite is on fire....
Where is the best spot you have ever camped?
Not sure if this is the right area to post this but it kind of pertains to wilderness survival and how important it is to know it. This is some freaky shit right here. I've never been in that forest but after reading this it makes me want to check it out. To have soooooooo many people disappear...
I've heard all about how if you decide to go to the wild you should partner up with people to ensure survival which I totally agree with. If I were to do it alone, is there a place I can live nearby a town just in case I need outside help and would that be a good idea? I was wondering about...

Bloodroot is a plant collected and sold for its roots. This plant is poisonous if eaten. The root is harvested in early fall and dried. If the root is broken it will stain the hands red. This is where it gets its name, bloodroot. I have not harvested any my self but plan to this fall. Bloodroot...
Recently came across an article about marijuana, in some cases large amounts, being grown in farmers cornfields. Gutsy.
Got me to thinking about possibilities....where else could marijuana be grown? Could it be grown in a house with no one (parents) knowing?
Dryad 's saddle or pheasant back mushrooms are common this time of year. Pheasant Back look just like they sound. These mushrooms are best eaten when very young. These mushrooms can be found on dead wood, mostly elms. A mushroom field guide is helpful for id. Please if all mushrooms before eating.
Yesterday I found some ramps and fiddleheads. Both can be found in oak woods in damp areas. Ramps are like a small onion, they have two bright green leaves and smell strongly of onion. Fiddleheads are immature form of the ostrich fern. Only the heads can be eaten and must be boiled for ten...

Hey so I threw this up on night when the temp was gonna be about 20 degrees. I slept comfy and had fun making it also had a full sheet bark door not pictured
Was curious about experiences with this. I've got a spot I know of by some nice moving water where I know virtually no one ever goes. It's close enough to resources - library, bar, post office, places to find a day's work, etc - but very seldom traveled. It's a stream valley with extremely steep...
hey, so these are some of my notes from a wilderness medicine certification I did years ago.
this kinda knowledge is especially good for travelers as it emphasizes improvisation and lack of resources.
the patient assessment system is the smallest "chunk" of knowledge that is useful in this field...
Basically, I am broke AF. I am sick of slaving to put money in other peoples pockets so, I have decided to buy land and leave the city. My wife and I purchased 2.3 acres in northern Arizona near Ash Fork in a subdivision called Kaibab Knolls.
I am looking for info from people living in that...
Long time, no post!
I've been kicking it at the Slab City Library for a couple months after my crash-landing in Tucson following my exit from three years of commune life. It's been cool to match some real life faces to screen names on this site, and it has been a decent learning experience for...
